Northside Charter High School’s first day of the fall semester is Thursday, September 8, 2022. The school building is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm.
Northside will be conducting classes entirely in-person this school year!
Northside has required its staff to be fully vaccinated unless one requests a medical or religious exemption, and the school is heavily suggesting that its students all be vaccinated. Students are required to be vaccinated if they wish to participate in any extracurricular sports, activities or clubs. For building entry, everyone must pass the DOE questionnaire around possible COVID exposure, and have their temperature taken. Masks are required at all times, unless one is eating their lunch at their desk or in the cafeteria while adhering to social distancing guidelines of maintaining at least 3 feet of space. Hand sanitizer, cleansing wipes and extra masks are provided inside each room or office for use as needed.
To address any learning loss, Northside held an in-person summer school session in July – August 2022.
To address student and staff social-emotional needs, Northside is working with our building partner, JEMS 126, to provide an additional social worker to support students with mental health needs. This position is shared by both schools. Additionally, Northside has a social worker and three additional school counselors that are available to support social-emotional needs of students. We also run an advisory program, 4-days out of the week. Part of that program is used to do check-ins with students and to run restorative practice circles and mental health check-ins to support student’s readiness for learning.
