In 2009 and with authorization from the New York State Board of Regents, Northside Charter High School was founded as part of the Believe High School Network in the Williamsburg, Brooklyn community. The Board of Trustees took strategic steps to strengthen the school’s governance and independence in 2012. This included the creation of standing committees, and, ultimately, the conclusion of our partnership with the Believe Network. These changes marked a pivotal shift toward a more localized vision, one designed specifically for the unique needs of our students and families.
Northside foregrounds inclusive, data-driven instruction and a school model that meets students where they are. We adjusted our staffing structure to provide more targeted coaching and support and expanded professional learning to ensure all staff are equipped to serve our diverse learners with excellence and care. These efforts included reducing student-to-teacher ratios, integrating flexible instructional models, and enhancing academic interventions. These changes ensure every student has access to a high-quality, personalized education.
Throughout our history, Northside has held fast to its mission: to serve students with integrity, high expectations, and compassion. Our students are guided by our belief in equity, community, and purpose.
As a school serving grades 9-12, Northside offers a dynamic learning environment that combines rigorous academics with strong social-emotional support. Our curriculum meets all state requirements while fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a deep sense of community, and we remain grounded in our local values while equipping students with the tools to succeed anywhere.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to our growth, families, and, above all, our students. With the continued support of our caregivers, board, staff, and broader community, Northside Charter High School is proud to be building a brighter future, one student at a time.
